Our senior men's and women's teams headed out to Edmonton for the Western Cup over April 3-7. Despite short rosters, both teams came out with some wins and the men's team even landed 5th out of an impressive 9 teams! Congrats to all who participated.
Big congrats to the WTHL's 2024/25 Season winners Voltage (women's), who defeated Y&R and Tube Sharks (men's) who defeated Tropics for their hard-fought battles to take home the trophies!
The Winnipeg Team Handball League has almost wrapped up for the season with the last games being played on Sunday, March 23rd.
Head to the WTHL website to see the results!
Congratulations to both our senior teams who travelled to Regina for the annual Heritage Classic. Both teams were very competitive but the women's team was unable to defeat the Alberta Junior team in round robin play and then again in the championship game. Whatever the results of the tournament, Manitoba always has fun in Sask!

January 18-19, 2025. For the 2nd year in a row, our friends in Saskatchewan are sending over their elite senior men's and junior women's provincial teams to compete against the best club teams in the WTHL. The highest ranked teams will get the opportunity to take on our talented neighbours as well as elite senior teams of our own. Who will walk away victorious in this flatlands showdown??
Following the Town Hall meeting, the organization decided to ditch the old MTHF name in favour of Handball Manitoba to mark the beginning of a bright, new future for the sport in our province.
The same committed group of volunteers
- with a few new additions -
is looking forward to providing more information and training opportunities for all of our players, coaches, and officials with a renewed enthusiasm!
Handball Manitoba hosted a virtual town hall meeting Tuesday night that was open to all to discuss the future of team handball in Manitoba. President Karley Middleton and Leagues Coordinator Danielle Baril led the meeting with information and updates on current activities while attendees inquired on how we can better grow the sport and support programs that encourage development. Overall, it was a very positive and productive experience with many attendees volunteering to help takes bites out of the proverbial elephant. Everyone is looking forward to seeing what kind of progress will come from this collaboration and we're hoping to host similar meetings in the future.
The 2024/25 season of the Winnipeg Team Handball League is scheduled to begin Sunday, October 20th at the familiar Red River Polytechnic North Gym. Unfortunately, the sandball and mini tournaments were cancelled due to lack of registration but the league is up and running as always! Looking forward to another great season, will new winners Fury and Blitz be able to defend their titles? We'll find out in March...
